AGUERO CAN INSPIRE

Manchester city defender Pablo Zabaleta says that he is confident that Sergio Aguero will be able to inspire the club to success over Liverpool at Anfield this weekend just as Carlos Tevez has did in the past.

The former city striker was inspirational for the blues for a couple of seasons before leaving to join Juventus for £ 10 million recently. He was instrumental in the first trophy lifted by the club under Roberto Mancini. Sergio Aguero has already become a city legend after helping the blues lift the first Premier league title a few years ago.

Aguero seemed to find another gear in the first half after he was in contention with Luis Suarez for the Golden Boot award. However, a succession of injuries in the second half of the campaign has limited him to only a handful of appearances, in which he has also been not very influential. After the second hamstring injury suffered against Barcelona in the Champions League, city decided to give Aguero time to get back to 100%. Now that he has come back fully fit, Zabaleta says that the striker could be the difference between winning and losing at Anfield this weekend.

The striker is expected to be recalled to the starting line-up in place of Edin Dzeko.

“It is a good time for Sergio to come back, and I can see why people say it’s similar to Tevez returning, when we won the title two seasons ago. As was the case with Carlos, it’s great for any team to have their best players back in the line-up again, particularly at this late stage of the season. That has to be good news for us, because he is an important player, and you know he is going to score goals,” said Zabaleta ahead of the visit to Anfield.
