Neymar wants PSG move to improve Ballon d'Or chances

Former Barcelona attacker Neymar reportedly pushed for a move to Paris Saint-Germain with the ambition of lifting the Ballon d'Or title in the future. The Brazil international has played second fiddle to the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in his time at Camp Nou, and he is now eyeing a move to a fresh club where he would have better chances of becoming the main orchestrator in the attack, The Sun claims.

Neymar is third favourite for the Fifa Ballon D'Or this season

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have shared the Ballon d'Or award in each of the last nine seasons, and this trend looks set to continue with the latter having bagged a Champions League and La Liga double last term, which warrants his fifth title.

PSG paid Neymar's £195m release clause in his contract, with Paris Saint-Germain's desire and ability to match the fee catching the eye of several officials. Speaking to Marca, La Liga president Javier Tebas admits that Neymar is not as important as the likes of Messi and Ronaldo, but the association will still file a complaint against PSG with their Qatari based owners willing to cough staggering amounts to sign the Brazilian.

"La Liga and Barcelona are bigger than Neymar. I would be more worried if Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi left. Even if they pay the release clause we will report them. They cannot make up some commercial numbers that are bigger than Barcelona or Real Madrid. Nobody believes that, which means that the state of Qatar is injecting money and that violates Financial Fair Play." he told Marca.

Neymar racked over 100 goals during his four-year period with the Spanish giants but move to Paris Saint-Germain will see him having the team built around him, and possibly see his game raise up to the highest level.
