Berbatov doubts whether Dybala can succeed in the Premier League
Manchester United legend Dimitar Berbatov is doubtful whether Paulo Dybala can succeed in the Premier League. The Argentina international has been fancied to join the Red Devils in a swap agreement involving Romelu Lukaku but so far, he has yet to agree to personal terms with the Old Trafford outfit.
Speaking to TalkSPORT, Berbatov said that he is an admirer of Dybala, who has excelled in the Serie A with his technical ability. However, he is concerned whether the Argentine can adapt to the physical demands of the Premier League with his small stature, he told: “I am a fan of Dybala. You can see his football intelligence.
“The thinking, his pass, the left-foot, his shots, his free-kicks, I like him a lot. The only thing is that he is not big, he’s small. Will he fit into the Premier League where it’s more physical? But you look at other players with his stature – David Silva for example – he’s a legend. “It’s important for him to look at those types of players if the deal goes through.”
Dybala has yet to accept personal terms over a contract with the Red Devils and that has stalled the swap deal at the moment. However, reports indicate that the Argentine is more likely to leave the Bianconeri during the forthcoming days, considering he does not have the assurance of gametime under new head coach Maurizio Sarri.
Elsewhere, there have been claims that United are looking into a transfer agreement for Dybala’s teammate Mario Mandzukic. The potential departure of Lukaku could leave the club without a physical presence upfront and it appears that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the Croatian at Old Trafford irrespective of the trailing age. Manchester United start their Premier League campaign with a home clash against arch-rivals Chelsea on August 11.
